With 12 million users, 88,000 installations, and 1,500 partners, SAP is the world´s largest inter-enterprise software company and the world´s third-largest independent software supplier overall. SAP is determined to grow market share, not only among large global corporations and government, but also among mid-sized companies in the range of £30M-750M turnover.

Cidermill was contracted to deliver a detailed study of the Process Manufacturing market, specifically for mid-sized companies in the UK and Ireland. The final report identified:

• Number of businesses within the sector, classified by turnover band
• Cumulative turnover of businesses in the sector
• Number of businesses and turnover, classified by sub-sector within Process Manufacturing (e.g. food, chemicals, pharmaceuticals, etc.)
• Type of activity of each business (manufacturer/distributor/head office)
• How much these businesses invest annually in software and related services.

The report will be a key ingredient for SAP as they develop their marketing strategy for the UK and Ireland. In particular it will help them expand their partner community to promote SAP´s flexible software applications to the Process Manufacturing sector.
